Wright, Kassens win XTERRA Bear Creek Trail Run



Macungie, PA  - Bear Creek Ski Resort, roughly an hour's drive north of Philadelphia played host to the XTERRA Philadelphia Trail Run Series finale last weekend.

The door was wide open for Brent Wright (33) of Coplay, PA to blaze the tough 21km technical ski resort course in 1:30:07. Chris Bauer (23) of Sea Cliff, NY finished runner-up in 1:31:48.

Dan, Brent and Chris will have a chance to test themselves against the nation's best trail runners as they all plan to travel to Bend, OR in September to toe-the-line for the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship.

The women's 21km race was won by Alice Kassens (35) of Fincastle, VA (pictured here) in 1:54:00. Alice beat out series regulars Bianca Simpson (34) of Glenmoore, PA with a second place finish of 1:58:46 and Glenna Champion (23) of West Chester, PA who finished at 2:01:28. 

The men's 10km was won by another series top runner, Greg Linsky in 49:09 with Charity Burkhart topping the women's 10km field in 58:27.

Rich Costello stated after the race that, "Bear Creek was a great taste of cardiovascular fitness and strength."

Diane Grimm just said, "Wow! That was awesome! The trails and views were spectacular."
