XTERRA Preps for Paris Mountain Trails

RACE #3 IN THE 2010 XTERRA SOUTH CAROLINA TRAIL RUN SERIES

XTERRA heads to the Palmetto State on May 29th for the XTERRA Paris Mountain Trails event. This 15-kilometer trail run explores Paris Mountain State Park’s wild, wooded course complete with its natural off-road obstacles and calf-screaming climbs.

XTERRA is teaming up with The Greenville Track Club and race director John Lehman to test South Carolina runners in the longest race of the season with this endurance challenge. After new course records were set last year by Travelers Rest’s Joe Hammond and Greenville’s own Margaret Schmitt with their times of 1:10:54 and 1:17:25 respectively, the bar is set high as area locals prepare to take down their titles.

The XTERRA Paris Mountain Trail Run is the third of four races in the 2010 XTERRA South Carolina Trail Run Series. The top 15 runners in each age group will be awarded points to add to their series totals, and those with the highest scores after the fourth and final race will be crowned XTERRA South Carolina Regional Champions. Along with this title comes free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 18th in the trail running mecca of Bend, Oregon.

From there, all runners are invited to race where the dinosaurs roamed and where “The Others” lived at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 5th at the spectacular Kualoa Ranch on the Hawaiian island of Oahu - the filming location for major productions like Jurassic Park, LOST, and Godzilla.

Entry Fee: $25 / $20 for Greenville Track Club Members. Registration includes event t-shirt.
