XTERRA Hosts Season's First Run at Folsom Lake

RACE #1 IN 2010 XTERRA NORCAL TRAIL RUN SERIES

Kicking off the 2010 XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series, the XTERRA Chanoko Xduro is bringing its off-road adventure to Granite Bay on March 27. Winding along the shores of Folsom Lake, runners will be challenged with a half-marathon distance playground through Northern California’s scenic vistas and rolling single-track foothills.

Held in conjunction with the XTERRA REAL off-road triathlon the following day, the XTERRA Chanoko Xduro Trail Run is just the start of the action-packed, off-road extravaganza engineered by race directors Mark Shaw and Bill Driskill of TBF Racing. Both the trail run and triathlon events will showcase the top-notch athleticism of area competitors, and spectators are more than welcome to come and witness all the excitement surrounding the weekend-long expo.

Last year, seventeen Northern California runners were crowned XTERRA Regional Champions and given free entry into the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship in Bend, Oregon. As the first race of the 2010 XTERRA NorCal season, this will be the first opportunity for local runners to earn points toward their series totals and claim their complimentary ticket to this year’s pinnacle event on September 18th.

XTERRA Chanoko 21km Trail Run Race Information

Where: Folsom Lake, Granite Bay, CA – Race begins at Granite Beach.
When: Saturday, March 27, 2010 – 10:00am
Fees: $35 / $45 on race day
Registration: Online by visiting www.xterratrailrun.com. On-site registration and packet pick-up will also be available on race day from 7-8:30am at Granite Beach.
Awards: There will be a first place award for the top male and female individual. Awards will also be given to the top three athletes in each 10-year age group.
