Robison Wins Age Group at Maui World Championship XTERRA
From the Reno Gazette-Journal www.rgj.com Local off-road XTERRA triathletes competed in the XTERRA World Championship Triathlon on Sunday in the hottest conditions in the event's 14-year history. Competing against 550 triathletes from 24 countries and 38 states, two local triathletes were podium finishers in their age group divisions. Kent Robison won his seventh world championship in the 60-64 age group with a time of 3 hours, 46 minutes. After winning seven world championship titles, Tom Lyons gave up first place in the last mile of the run to take second place in the 45-49 division in 3:16. Eric Ronning of Incline placed fifth in the 40-44 age division with a time of 3:22. Janice Brod placed sixth in her 35-39 age group with a time of 3:59. Kim Devine finished the course in 4:39 and placed 11th in the women's 40-44 age group. After placing 11th in the Hawaii Ironman two weeks ago, Eneko Llanos won the event in 2:37. Julie Dibens won the overall women's title in 2:56.
