XTERRA Gets Ready to Battle at Big Creek

RACE #3 IN THE 2010 XTERRA GEORGIA TRAIL RUN SERIES

The 2010 XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series has started off strong with two successful events under its belt, and on November 8th, the third race returns to Roswell for the XTERRA Battle at Big Creek.

Big Creek Park, an urban trail system just outside Atlanta, sets the stage for both the main, 15km trail run and the shorter 7km fun run. Since Big Creek does not cover a large area, the trails are characterized by lots of twists and turns. The multi-use trails offer a good deal of single track, challenging climbs and steep downhills, so the only thing runners should expect is to expect everything.

Almost 300 runners came out for this inaugural event in 2008, and with the race capacity maxing out at 350 athletes this year, runners are encouraged to enter early to secure their spot. According to race director Tim Schroer, another incentive is the “Dri-Fit” shirt Dirty Spokes will be handing out to all early registrants.

Competitors racing in the longer distance who finish in the top 15 in their age group will be awarded points toward their 2010 XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series tallies. Those ending the season with the highest totals will be crowned XTERRA Georgia Regional Champions and awarded free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship next fall.

XTERRA Battle at Big Creek 7/15km Trail Run Race Information

When: Sunday, November 8, 2009 – 8:30am
Where: Big Creek Trails (1600 Old Alabama Road, Roswell, Georgia, 30076)
Entry Fee: 7km-$25 / 15km-$30 until Oct. 31, add $5 for late registration, add $10 on race day.
Awards: Medals and prizes to overall top 3 male and female finishers. Medals to top 3 male and female finishers in each age group. Dri-Fit shirts will also be guaranteed for all early registrants.
