XTERRA Gets Set For Start of SoCal Trail Run Series

RACE #1 IN 2010 XTERRA SoCAL TRAIL RUN SERIES

After a long summer break, the XTERRA SoCal Trail Run Series is back with another full schedule for 2010. Always one of the season’s most popular events, the XTERRA Point Mugu Trail Runs are set for September 27 in Malibu’s Point Mugu State Park.

With two distances to choose from, the main 18km endurance event along with a shorter 11km fun run, there is a race for runners of all levels. While both start at the southern end of La Jolla Canyon just one mile west of Sycamore Canyon, the 18km challenge has a fair amount of rolling terrain while the 11km consists of one big up and down elevation change.

Top runners in the 18km event will be eligible to earn the first series points of the 2010 season. Those who accumulate the most of these coveted points over the course of the season will earn the title of XTERRA Regional Champion and be awarded free entry to the 2010 XTERRA Trail Running National Championship.

In the meantime, SoCal runners are invited to race at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship scheduled for December 6, 2009 on the spectacular Hawaiian island of Oahu. With no qualification necessary and a stage like Kualoa Ranch, where they filmed major productions like Jurassic Park, Godzilla and LOST, this is one event not to be missed.
