XTERRA Philly Finale Heads to Bear Creek

RACE # 5 IN THE 2009 XTERRA PHILLY TRAIL RUN SERIES

After four successful events, it now comes down to the XTERRA Bear Creek Xduro Trail Run to decide who will be crowned this year’s XTERRA Philly Trail Run Series regional champions. So far, the season has consisted of shorter 5 and 8-kilometer trail runs, but the finale at Bear Creek Mountain on July 19 is pulling out all the stops.

Two distances – the main, half-marathon distance Xduro and a shorter 10km run – will challenge runners of every level as they tackle the scenic trails of Berks County, PA. According to race director Don Morrison, “This race is sure to please, so bring the whole family to Bear Creek Mountain Resort for a weekend full of relaxation and racing.”

The Bear Creek Mountain Resort is proud to host this event and offers spectacular accommodations for the whole family including a luxurious hotel, restaurant, bar & grill, spa, and indoor and outdoor pools. Plus, the resort boasts an extensive trail system for running and mountain bike through the rugged and rocky singletrack and doubletrack terrain.

The XTERRA Philly Trail Run Series has developed quite a following and has several runners leading the pack in their age groups with undefeated records. Running in the 21km course at Bear Creek will be the last chance for athletes to add points toward their series totals. Top runners at the end of the 2009 season will earn the title of XTERRA Regional Champion and receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 13 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners can say Aloha to the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu where the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship will take place on December 6.
