XTERRA Heads to Oakland Hills for New NorCal Trail Run

RACE #2 IN THE XTERRA NORCAL TRAIL RUN SERIES

Coming up in the XTERRA Trail Run Series lineup, the NorCal Series premiers its first new race in the Oakland Hills on Sunday, April 19. Offering two distances, a 15km endurance test and a 5km fun run, the XTERRA Redwood Peak Trail Run will give runners of all levels a reason to come out and hit the trails.

The XTERRA Redwood Peak Trail Run takes place at Redwood Regional Park amongst the giant, 100-year old, 150-foot trees and will reward runners with spectacular, spanning views of the East Bay. Runners will navigate their way around the park’s 1,829 evergreen and grassland-covered acres forgetting this nature wonderland is just a few miles over the ridge from bustling downtown Oakland.

This brand new event is the second race in the 2009 XTERRA NorCal Trail Run Series leaving runners with only one more opportunity to accumulate points toward their series totals. Each race awards points to the top 15 runners in each age group, and those ending the series with the highest scores will be crowned an XTERRA Regional Champion and receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 13 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners can go head to head against the world’s best trail runners at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship December 6 on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu.
