XTERRA Trail Run Series Sets Sights on Seven Islands

RACE #2 IN THE 2009 XTERRA TENNESSEE TRAIL RUN SERIES

XTERRA is invading the Volunteer State on February 28th to host this year’s XTERRA Seven Islands Trail Run. This 10-kilometer event is the XTERRA Tennessee Series’ first race for 2009 and kicks off at Knoxville’s Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge.

This 360-acre wildlife sanctuary will keep runners on their toes as it springs endless obstacles from never-ending uphills to winding, wood-lined single track trails. The course is made of two loops, and runners will be handsomely rewarded with spectacular views of the French Broad River. 

Runners will battle the worst Mother Nature can throw at them, however those looking for an easier outdoor adventure can take on the 5km walk that is open to everyone. 

After the XTERRA Seven Islands Trail Run, area runners will only have two more opportunities to earn series point for their 2009 totals. Those ending the season with the most points will receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 13 in Bend, Oregon. From there, they will have the opportunity to go head to head against the world’s best trail runners at the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 6 on the spectacular Hawaiian island of Oahu.
