XTERRA Xduro Makes Its Debut at Mohonk Preserve

RACE #3 IN 2008 XTERRA NEW YORK TRAIL RUN SERIES

July 11, 2008 - XTERRA's new half-marathon distance Xduro trail run makes its New York debut on August 16, 2008 at the Spring Farm Preserve in New Paltz. The XTERRA Mohonk Preserve Xduro will lead runners over 21 kilometers of various terrains from open meadows with spectacular vistas to steep, rocky footpaths.

According to race director John McGovern, "The XTERRA Mohonk Preserve Xduro's course is a mix of groomed carriage trails and gnarly, steep, rooty and rocky single-track trails. Athletes will descend the carriage trails and climb the single track because it's safer and tougher. We'll be running under, and over, world-class rock climbing cliffs. It's going to be a great race."

Located within the 6500 acres of the Shawangunk Mountains, Mohonk Preserve is a mountain refuge for people and nature with some of the best running trails in the Northeast. The course will center around the Slingerland Pavilion and will provide what organizers call "a million dollar view."

The XTERRA Mohonk Preserve Xduro is the third and final race in the 2008 XTERRA New York Trail Run Series. Finishing times will determine who will be crowned regional champions and win free entry to this year's XTERRA National Trail Running Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners will have the opportunity to race in the first-ever XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 7 in beautiful Hawaii. For more information, visit www.xterraplanet.com.
