Utah Athletes Run Their Way to Antelope Island

RACE #3 IN 2008 XTERRA UTAH TRAIL RUN SERIES

The XTERRA Trail Run Series makes its way to Syracuse, UT on July 19 for the XTERRA Antelope Island 12K Trail Run.

Taking place on Antelope Island, the largest of the Great Salt Lake's ten islands, the event will lead runners over a variety of terrains including white sand beaches, rocky, backcountry trails, gradual switchbacks and steep inclines. The island covers over 28,000 acres and appears to be a barren desert from the mainland, but once on the island, visitors will be surrounded by a variety of wildlife including the infamous antelope.

The invigorating salt air and beautiful, crystal blue water will hopefully be enough to make runners forget they are in the middle of running an endurance-crushing race. XTERRA is known for its extreme, off-road events, and this one will be no exception.

The third of four races in the 2008 XTERRA Utah Trail Run Series, the XTERRA Antelope Island Trail Run will bring out runners eager to earn points toward their series total for the chance to win free entry to the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon. From there, runners will have the chance to compete in the first-ever XTERRA Trail Running World Championship on December 7 at the beautiful Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii.
