Wiley and Kenney Finish First at 2008 XTERRA Georgia Trail Series Finale

Chris Wiley(Dauset, GA) – Atlanta runners took Dauset Trails by storm as they dominated the field at the XTERRA Deep South Trail Run 15K on Saturday, May 31. For the third consecutive time, Chris Wiley, 39, had the fastest time of the day coming in at 54:12, almost two minutes faster than fellow Atlanta resident Ian McCann, 25.

In the women’s race, Samantha Kenney, 36, finished first with her time of 1:10:54 to beat Andrea Valencia, 25, both also from Atlanta.

Chris Wiley has practically become a local legend during the 2008 XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series having come in first at each of the three races he entered. When we talked to Chris, he told us “Doing the XTERRA races are really a blast! Great events, cool people and really tough courses.”

This weekend’s race was a huge success with 239 runners ages 9-66 from 11 states coming out to “Ditch the City” and compete in the final 2008 Georgia Trail Run Series Race. Having earned its reputation for being tough, dirty and fun, there were even 12 soldiers using the race as their military PT Fitness Day.

Race director Tim Schroer and his Dirty Spokes team have done a fantastic job putting together a challenging series of races for Georgia runners. According to Alpharetta resident Kyle Nel, 25, “I have run quite a few races and this was one of the best ever! My wife and I are on the lookout for any race organized by Dirty Spokes, and we’ll be there!”

“It was a great race and a beautiful course. I look forward to joining you again with my friends next year” said race participant Laura Barnard.

Atlanta resident, Brad Ritchie, 36, told us that Saturday’s race was “my first trail race and definitely my favorite race of my life. I look forward to more next year.”

Complete results from Saturday’s race are attached and more information can be found online at www.xterratrailrun.com. Media interested in photos from this event should contact Emily@xterraplanet.com.
