Halloween Run! The XTERRA Gwynns Falls 6K

Costumed Athletes Hit The Trails – October 28, 2007

(Baltimore, MD) On Sunday, October 28th at 9:00am, the gorgeous paths of Winans Meadow will be host to athletes of all calibers, many "dressed to impress" in their best Halloween attire, for the XTERRA Gwynns Falls Trail Run/Walk.  With a costume contest to take place just as participants toe the staring line, don't be surprised to see ghosts, witches and other funky characters scampering by in running shoes.  Winners of both the running competition and the costume contest will be announced in a post-race ceremony.

This 6K off-road adventure is the final leg of three trail runs for the XTERRA Chesapeake Bay Trail Run Series, following the hugely successful Boordy Vineyards and River Valley Ranch Trail Runs.  At each XTERRA trail race, the top 10 runners in each age division earn points.  At the close of this series, regional champions for the Chesapeake Bay area will be crowned.

This event is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the fall weather before winter takes hold!  Participants will get a great morning workout while catching sight of Baltimore's beautiful natural scenery, historic sites and cityscape as they traverse up and down the paths of this unique park.

Proceeds from this XTERRA Trail Run benefit the programs of the Gwynns Falls Trail Council.  Formed in 1998, the council aims to promote the enjoyment and continuous improvement of the Gwynns Falls for generations to come.

    * Location: Gwynns Falls Trail at Winans Meadow off Franklintown Road
    * Entry Fees: $20 by October 19th; $25 after October 19th and on race day.

Fee includes an XTERRA t-shirt, a killer trail run and post-race beverages & breakfast.

Awards for the trail run will be given to males and females in the following categories: 15 & under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.

*Awards for the costume contest will given out as well.
