XTERRA Series Finale - Come Run "The Dot"

Athletes Convene Sept. 8th for the XTERRA Midwest Series Showdown

XTERRA Dot Trail Trot Trail RunWyandotte County Lake, a hidden gem in Kansas City, will host the 3rd annual XTERRA Dot Trail Trot - a 5k and 10k trail running adventure on Saturday September 8th, 2007.  Athletes of all ages and skill levels will "run like the wind" through the rocky and hilly terrain of Wyandotte County Lake.  Those who swiftly navigate through the course will be on point to getting medals and prizes from the North Face.  Also, the top finishers from this event combined with the previous two are in contention to be crowned XTERRA Midwest Champion and qualify for the nationals in Lake Tahoe, NV next month!

Mother Nature is notorious for bringing her best to the XTERRA athletes for this race.  Last year she delivered an extra challenging course with downed trees, mud and drizzly weather.  Athletes emerged from the woods looking as if they had been crawling through the trails instead of running them!  Runners who frequent the road have a blast with the XTERRA off-road trail run series because it gives their bodies a change of pace and the tricky terrain literally keeps them on their toes.

The XTERRA Dot Trail Trot is the last of the XTERRA Midwest 3-race points series.  Last year, the men's Midwest Champion was a true battle and was a split of only ten points between the 10k first and second place finishers.  Fortunately, it's the top five overall series finishers for the 10k events in each age group that qualify to participate at the XTERRA National Championships in Lake Tahoe, Nevada - making it worth the effort to "RUN WILD".

Wyandotte County Lake is a perfect venue with the 400-acre lake surrounded by 1,500-acres of hillside oak-hickory woodlands and lakeside sycamores area with an array of wildlife.  Miles and miles of trails have been carved into the wooded landscape.  One athlete said with conviction, "there is nothing better than an early morning run in the woods here at the lake."
