XTERRA Sundance Trail Run Race Report

Sundance Trail Run WinnerAt 7:30 AM this morning, nearly 50 runners from all angles of Utah hit the trails for the first ever XTERRA Sundance 10k Trail Run.  This race was the 3rd event of 4 in the XTERRA Utah Series with the grand finale' taking place on August 17th in Ogden, UT.

The crisp mountain air and backdrop of gorgeous Mt. Timpanogos was surely a treat for the competitors.  The course began and finished at 6,100 ft. above sea level – so the altitude was definitely a straining factor as they weaved through twists and turns on the single track.

Karl Jarvis (28) of Provo however didn't seem to mind as he smoked the field with a convincing win in 38 minutes.  Speed runs in the family, because his wife Sara Jarvis (26) took second place in the women's race with a time of 48 minutes.

Following Karl Jarvis was Michael Raemisch (38) in a time of 41 minutes who also won the first XTERRA Trail Run of the season.  Dave Elger (53) of Mountain Green took home the bronze by finishing in 43 minutes.  The top female runner was Rachel Cieslewicz (27) of Salt Lake City in a time of 45 minutes.  She was followed by Sara Jarvis, and then Jennifer Hughes (28) in 55 minutes.
