Chicago, IL – In the wake of two successful XTERRA Chicago trail runs, the XTERRA X-Country 8k and the XTERRA Renegade 10k, the best of this three-part series is saved for last…

The XTERRA XTREME 12k Trail Run is set to blast off at 8:00 in the morning on Sunday, August 5, 2007, hitting the limestone paths, switchback trails, challenging hills and an additional two kilometers of extreme dirt trails, in Palatine’s beautiful Deer Grove West Forest Preserve.  Hopping over logs, dancing through roots, trekking through mud and crossing creeks make this trail race one for the books.  We encourage all Chicagoans to come test their lungs and limits in the company of other avid runners and enjoy this last great summer XTERRA adventure. 

Forget running in circles around a track, monotonous treadmill workouts, or killing your knees on the pavement!  We challenge people to get back to nature, breathe some fresh air and remember just how good it feels to RUN WILD with us in Palatine, Illinois! 

The XTERRA Series:  Being the last race in the 2007 XTERRA Chicago Series – Regional Champions will be crowned in each age division AND athletes will find out who earned enough points for an invite to the XTERRA National Championship Trail Running Event in Lake Tahoe, NV!
Steve Baugh of Ohio, men’s winner in the first two events, is the favorite to win the series and lock in to a qualifying spot in the national meet in Lake Tahoe.

Pre-Race: Running Unlimited 451 W. Northwest Hwy. Palatine, Illinois 60067
Friday, August 3 (11-6) and Saturday, August 4 (10-5)

Race Day: At the "base camp" of Deer Grove West Forest Preserve
Race day registration is from 6:45 to 7:45 a.m., -- but sign up early because the event is capped at 300 participants.

Awards:  In accordance with the XTERRA National Championship qualifier points-series, awards are given three deep to: MALE & FEMALE <9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ -- BASED ON AGE as of 12-31-07.  Plus, the overall winners get CASH PRIZES!!

Location & Parking: The XTERRA XTREME Trail Run will be held at Deer Grove West Forest Preserve in Palatine, Illinois. The entrance to Deer Grove Forest Preserve is off of Quentin Road in between Dundee Road and Lake-Cook Road. Parking is available near the registration canopy. There will be signs to direct you towards the race area.
