The XTERRA Snowbird Challenge Returns

The second event of four in the 2007 XTERRA Utah Trail Run Series, will take place on Saturday, July 14th with the XTERRA Snowbird Challenge.  With a distance of 10k, this trail running race offers participants a mesmerizing journey through the pristine wilderness of Wasatch Mountain. 

Hitting an elevation gain of 8,000+ feet, this race gives a new definition to the term “runner’s high”.  The word ‘challenge’ is in the title of the event for good reason; competitors climb up, up, up the mountain, inhaling the fresh mountain air and giving their lungs the workout of a lifetime.  At the top, with heartbeats racing and calves burning, satisfaction comes from seeing enchanting views of snow-topped mountains, the whitewater stream of Little Cottonwood Creek and the seemingly small city of Salt Lake below.

Last year, the elevation did not seem to disturb brothers Daniel and Devin Moody took the top honors in the 5 and 10k in speedy times of 34:31 and 18:18.  We’ll see if this year, their times can be matched…

Because the events are formatted inside the XTERRA Trail Running Championship Series, the top 10 racers in each age group earn points to qualify for the XTERRA National Trail Running Championships in Lake Tahoe, NV this September.  For the beginners, trail running is a great way to get active outdoors, meet new friends and experience the beauty of the woods.
 
Whether a participant or spectator, the magnificence of Snowbird Mountain is undeniable.  Escape the summer heat and join us for an afternoon XTERRA Trail Run with folk and bluegrass concerts playing all day at the Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Schedule: Race begins at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 14th.  
       
Location: Snowbird Resort up Little Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City.

Race start and finish at the Aerial Tram next to the Snowbird Center. 
Plenty of parking is available.
