Trio of Trail Runs Grace Northern California

The XTERRA Presidio Challenge Kicks-Off the 2007 Racing Series: June 17th

XTERRA and PacWest Productions are enthused to announce the formation of the inaugural XTERRA Northern California Trail Run Series.  For 2007, the series offers three stunning off-road running races to the San Francisco Bay Area.  With terrain ranging from flat and fast (the XTERRA Presidio Challenge – June 17), to extreme elevations and obstacles (The XTERRA Mt. Tamalpais – Aug 19), and rolling hills (XTERRA Golden Gate Park – Sept 16) – the series boasts something for everyone.

The kick-off event takes place on Sunday, June 17th with the XTERRA Presidio Challenge, a 5K and 10K on the trails of San Francisco's scenic, Presidio National Park.  A flat and fast course, this is the perfect race for those looking to make (or break) a personal record.  The route is a fusion of paved roads, bike paths, and packed dirt trails around spectacular Crissy Field.  Spectators are welcome – with the 5K a single loop around Crissy Field, and the 10K a double loop, it’s perfect for cheering on your favorite competitors.  Being a father’s day race – remember to bring dad as to compete or spectate!

Because the three events are formatted inside the U.S. XTERRA Trail Running Championship Series, the races present an excellent opportunity for runners of all abilities.  For competitive racers, the quest begins to earn points for qualification in the XTERRA National Trail Running Championships in Lake Tahoe, NV this September.  For the beginners, trail running is a terrific way to get active outdoors, meet new friends and experience the beauty of nature.

The XTERRA NorCal Series has teamed with Girls on the Run -- a non-competitive, curriculum-based running program for girls from 3rd through 8th grade to help build self-esteem.  By providing a safe environment where girls can express themselves and build confidence, GOTR is helping to prepare them for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
