RACE RESULTS: XTERRA Belly of the BeastJerad Crave and Sally Evenden took home gold as the overall male and female finishers at the inaugural XTERRA Belly of the Beast 8k Trail Run in Knoxville’s Melton Hill Park last Saturday, April 21st. The men’s race was a tight scramble for the top contestants, but Crave (32) was able to pull through at the end in a time of just under half an hour. On his heels was Mike Moran (32) who crossed the finish line in a time of 30 minutes and 20 seconds. The bronze medal for the overall male went to Barry Lucas (41) with his time of 31:27. For the women, Evenden (51) floated past the younger competitors and crossed the line in a time of 36 minutes and 39 seconds. Tracy Brooks (24) couldn’t quite keep up, but finished in second with an impressive time of 38:41. Joanna Langton (37) who took home third overall in a time of 39:50. At each of the following events, runners can accumulate points to get to the 2007 XTERRA National Trail Running Championship, held in Lake Tahoe, NV on September 29th.
