A Trio of Trail Runs Added to the XTERRA National Championship Series!

This Patriots Weekend, tradition fuses with modern-day on the battlefield and on the trails.  At 9:00am, Saturday, April 14, the Merrimack River 16k Trail Run celebrates both its 16th race anniversary and inaugural year of involvement with the nation-wide XTERRA Trail Running Championship Series.

The XTERRA Merrimack River Trail Run marks the first of three races in the New England area.  Runners of all ages and skill levels are invited to "battle" each other in a competition to the finish line.  Because this event is off-road, nature's array of elements keeps it interesting; the combination of hills, rocks, roots, ice, mud, and general slop has racers on their toes, minds alive and senses heightened.

The top 10 runners in each age group earn points at every XTERRA race attended.  After the series concludes, those with the most points are crowned New England Champions.  In addition, the top 5 in each class are invited to compete against other regional champions at the 2007 XTERRA National Trail Running Championship, held in Lake Tahoe, NV on September 29th.

RACE BENEFICIARY

Proceeds from this race benefit the Thomas Chamberas Runners' Memorial Scholarship Fund, offering financial assistance to young adults who exhibit qualities of Respect, Generosity of Spirit, Love of Running, Sportsmanship and Honor.

Directions:

Wyndham Andover is located on the east side of I-93. When traveling North on I-93 and exit 45, take a left at the end of the ramp and then first left at next light. When traveling South on I-93 and exit 45, take a right at end of ramp, and at 2nd light take a left.
