Rochester Man Wins Triathlon Championship

Ryan DeCook won the off-road triathlon Nissan Xterra National Championship for the 20-24 age bracket on Oct. 2. His cash reward for finishing first in Lake Tahoe, NV.? Absolutely nothing. "I do it because I love it," said DeCook, an accountant who lives in Rochester. "I get to travel to some of the neatest places in the world." DeCook, who turned 25 four days after the race, finished the 1.5-kilometer swim, 32-kilometer bike and 10-kilometer run with a time of 2:59.21.
