How to Qualify to Race in Maui

The XTERRA World Championship is maxed out at 800 qualified and "at large" competitors.

Pro athletes who wish to compete in Maui should mail their credentials to race director Dave Nicholas kahunadav@xterraplanet.com.

AMATEURS

US Athletes can qualify for the World Championship four different ways:
1. Finish in one of 47 qualifying spots at any of the four (4) XTERRA Championship Series races or the XTERRA USA Championship.

2. Qualify at the XTERRA Freedom Fest or Jamba Juice XTERRA MountainMan race – designed as a qualifiers for Hawaii residents, non-Hawaii residents may also earn slots at these races.

3. Be selected via our at-large pool by entering online or by mail.
4. Qualify at one of the XTERRA World Tour stops.

AT-LARGE POOL

To enter the at-large pool, you must register and pay for the race. Slots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis until all slots have been filled. Anyone in the at-large pool who is not given a slot to race in Maui will be refunded. Non-U.S. athletes residing in countries hosting XTERRA World Tour Championship races will not be accepted in the “at large” pool prior to their National Championship event.  They should apply directly to their National Organizer for an “at large” slot from any unused qualifying positions.

XTERRA WORLD TOUR

The XTERRA World Tour championship races offer 41 slots to athletes of any nationality at each event.  Events in the World Tour include the XTERRA America Tour Series, XTERRA European Tour (Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Spain, Greece, England and Switzerland), Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Philippines, Guam and Saipan (please check our schedule for complete listings).  If a qualified athlete does not accept their earned slot, the slot rolls down to the next qualified athlete.

Type 2 - Qualifier

Qualifying Slots at XTERRA Local Championship Events (Greece, England and Italy)
There will be 15 qualfying slots awarded at the XTERRA Local Championship races.  Each age group winner, at the awards presentation, will receive a certificate with a link to register for the World Championship.  We will accept the first 15 who enter.

XTERRA MOUNTAINMAN TRIATHLON 

This races gives Hawaii residents an opportunity to qualify for Worlds, however anyone may race and earn Maui slots. The race offers 43 slots to top finishers of any nationality across all age groups. Visit (www.bocahawaii.com) for more information.

This races gives Hawaii residents an another opportunity to qualify for Worlds, however anyone may race and earn Maui slots. The race offers 29 slots to top finishers of any nationality across all age groups. More information on this race.
