XTERRA Paul Mitchell Cut-a-Thon

Paul MitchellPaul Mitchell has long put the "Style" in Lifestyle Sports and have been a loyal sponsor of XTERRA for more than a decade.  Simply put, the stylists are cool, and with shirts that sport their motto "giving back is the new black" these professionals create the most magnificent cuts for the XTERRA Tribe during our major events.

At the XTERRA World Championship in Maui racers, family, friends and spectators will have two chances to get their hair cut by Paul Mitchell stylists.  They'll be in the XTERRA Expo at Makena Beach & Golf Resort Sunday, October 25th from 10am - 2pm.

In exchange for a $15 donation to the non-profit Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) - the official charity of the Paul Mitchell hair-cut-a-thon - you can get your do done right!  The CAF was founded to help physically challenged athletes reach their athletic goals.  Give back, get styled, Live More.

GL Brown and his dogs

GL Brown has a distinguished look about him, kind of like Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings. His silky silver hair – which remarkably has been quite the topic of conversation lately – has grown steadily from just below his ears to down past his shoulders during this past year ... and it’s still growing.

“It’s all Kiely’s fault,” said the 10-year XTERRA veteran, referring to TEAM Unlimited CEO Tom Kiely.  “You know Mr. Ideas!  We’re having this nice conversation up at the lodge at Snowbasin Resort in Utah back in March and out of nowhere he tells me not to cut my hair, grow it until Maui.”

Maui, of course, means XTERRA Worlds – which is not until late October.

GL Brown“Yeah, he says, don’t you dare cut it and we’ll let the people decide what shape to shave it in at the Paul Mitchell Cut-a-thon in Maui.  We’ll raise a whole bunch of money for Jamie Whitmore and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.”

“I figured it’s a chance for me to do some good so I told him what the heck, I’m in,” said Brown.  “And now my hair is out of control.  I have to put in a pony tail or wear it in a cap.  If I don’t, I get lost in this silver forest.  At least now I know what my dogs are going through.”

This October 25 will mark Brown’s 11th time at XTERRA Worlds, and will certainly be accompanied by another memorable moment.
