I am looking at trying to put together a trip for the spring of 2014 to hit the 4 races (Phillipines, Saipan, Tagaman, and Guam). I am looking for information from anyone who has done this or looked into it regarding travel logistics. I will be traveling from Alaska, but really any information regarding travel from the west coast would probably be helpful. Is there a certain sequence of flights to look for? Should I just book a simple round trip to and from the first location, then book the shorter "hop" flights separately through another service? Any special issues to keep in mind while planning or traveling (currency to have available in cash form or things like that)? Any specific airlines to look for or look to avoid for whatever reason?
I know this is somewhat of a logistical nightmare, so trying to get a head start on things now so I can be ready when I have to start committing to things down the road.
