XTERRA Ambassadors
Lisa Riedlinger, Mountain, 35-39Birthplace: St. Louis, MisourriOccupation: Program Manager Residence: Marital Status/Family: Married to husband Volker Riedlinger. Question and Answer with LisaWhat accomplishment are you most proud of: With respect to racing-Xterra. It has opened the door to many other things. When you're not racing, you like to: Sit on my deck in the Elkhorn mountains, my home, drinking Corona with my hubby until the sun goes down. What's the craziest experience you've ever had with XTERRA (traveling, racing or training)? My very first Xterra triathlon was in Moonlight Basin before it moved to Bozeman. Just before the race, Volker and I saw a grizzly bear just a few hundred yards from the race start, frolicking around in the forest. The swim to bike transition was about a half mile apart. I think it was my fastest transition time ever! What's the best thing about racing? The sense of adventure. What is the coolest piece of gear you own? My pink Specialized Era-no one has a better color. Role model/Inspiration/Favorite athlete: My family is my inspiration. My mother for her "never give up" and endless determination to succeed, my father for his ability to see the humor in all aspects of life, my brother for his perseverance despite all of life's challenges, and my husband with his sense of adventure, humor, and his love of life. What do you do when you aren't training/racing? Snowshoeing, mountain biking, hiking, adventure racing, etc… Which 2010 XTERRA races do you plan to attend? Most races are TBD since they will revolve around an overseas trip. But tentatively, Las Vegas, Farragut, Bozeman, some races in Colorado, Wild Ride in Idaho-Maybe one in Austria during our trip to Europe. Favorite XTERRA venue: Huntsville, Utah and Bozeman, MT. Dreaded XTERRA venue: Wild Ride in ID, the downhill on the bike is steep and with deep sand. Fear is in my back pocket the whole way, yet I keep going back every year-my husband broke 3 of his ribs on that course. What's your favorite aspect of XTERRA? The venue to be who you really are. Define / describe XTERRA: Racing the way Mother Nature intended. |
